Our Ancient education system mainly focused on providing following objectives: 1.  Preservation of knowledge and culture. 2.  Personality 3.  Social awareness 4.  Self-Control 5.  Character Development 6.  Propagation of purity Gurukul System Gurukul system is known to be the originator of Vedic India education system. According to this system, places were established where Gurus and Shishyas used to live together at one place called Ashrams.During the Vedic days, the education mainly consisted of teaching of Vedas, Sanskrit Hymns and Ritual Practices. The Vedas mainly used Sanskrit language which later on became the chief language for classical teaching and literatures. In Gurukul System, the preceptors belong to two classes; Acharya and Upadhyaya.  Mainly Acharyas used to perform the Upanayana ceremony (in which the child needs to leave his home for education), teach Vedas along with the Upanishads and ritualistic literature. The Upadhyaya teaches Ve...

If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future.

🔱If you are depressed you are living in the past. If you are anxious you are living in the future. If you are at peace you are living in the present. Realize that Now is all there ever is.  . . ⚡Take time to be thankful for everything you have. You can always have more but you could also have less. There is always, always, always something to be thankful for in the present. . ❤Even when your past tries to pull you back in, you can consciously do your best to focus on your present blessings. Oftentimes we don’t even realize we’re blocking our own present blessings by holding on to the past. . . ☀️So just do your best to bring awareness to this, to practice diligently, so you can gradually let go. What do you see in your life right now? Be thankful for it all. For your health, your family, your friends, and your home. Many people don’t have these things.  . . 🌺Remind yourself that the richest human isn’t the one who has the most, but the one who needs less. Wealth is a mindset...

Ram Setu

The building of the bridge to Lanka is a favorite part of the Ramayana. Not only because it was done mainly by an army of monkeys and other animals, but it was built around one central idea – when the name of Rama was written on the rocks they floated on the water. My big take away from this is that mantra meditation, the recitation of the names of the Lord, will help us build the bridges to where we need to go to on our spiritual journey. And that our hearts, without Lord Rama, are hard and heavy as stones, but with the Lord, we become light-hearted. It is said, ‘Angels fly because they take themselves lightly.’ That’s a good definition of light-heartedness. We take our own importance far too seriously at times, which becomes weighty and eventually unbearable, to ourselves and to others. I know a person who once did an exercise of carrying around a backpack of stones for a week. It was part of his process to let go all the anger, hate, and resentment he carried around with him, to sho...

Not Benjamin Franklin but Rishi Agastya has gifted the world the basic method of generating electricity

Image
We all have been taught that foreign scientists such as Newton, Einstein, Benjamin Franklin had invented electricity, bulbs and batteries. But what has not been taught to us is that the electricity was being used in India thousands of years before that. Many of us do not know that Agastya Rishi was the father of the electric battery. Maharishi Agastya was one of the Saptarishis and he was the elder brother of Vasishtha Muni who was Rajkul Guru of King Dasharath. Agastya Rishi lived in Northern India but on request of the deities, he left Kashi and travelled to the south and later settled there. Agastya Rishi is one of the great sages. The basic method of generating electricity is based on the ancient principles of Rishi Agastya.  The code written by him covered the vast knowledge of subjects including a formula for making a battery. In the code, Maharishi has mentioned several theories to generate clean energy thereby providing electricity with natural resources. And the same theor...

How Did Swami Vivekananda Experience God ?

Image
When Swami vivekananda was just 19 years old he was a very logical and intellectual and wanted to have proper answer from everything.. . So one day he came to Ramakrishna and asked, "You are always talking about God.. Where is God? Can you show me the proof that God Exists?? .  Ramakrishna didn't gave any Elaborate Explanation or theory as he was a simple man. He just replied. " I am Proof that God exists. " .  Vivekananda was not satisfied with the answer as he was looking for some Explanation, something intellectual which could satisfy him.. Vivekananda didn't know what to reply and left.. .  This was still troubling vivekananda. So three days later he was back to Ramakrishna and asked same question. Can you show me God?? .  Ramakrishna replied " Ok. But do you have courage to see? Vivekananda wanted to see so he bravely said," yes... " just then Ramakrishna placed his foot on swamiji chest and with this swamiji went into immense Samadhi ( Supe...

Learning Temples OF VARANASI

Image
Ratneshwara Mahadev Temple🔱also called the Kashi Karvat (Kashi is the ancient name for Varanasi and karvat means leaning in Hindi)also called Matru-rin-Mahadev is one of the beautiful temples present in Kashi Ghat, the temple was probably built in the mid-19th century, built by the Amethi royal family. The temple was built extremely close to the Ganges river and has developed a nine-degree slant. Many paintings of the ghats from the early to mid 19th century depict leaning temples close to the Ganga, so it would appear that Ratneshwar Mahadev is now a lone survivor of this phenomenon. This temple is situated at Manikarnika Ghat. The inner sanctum of this temple remains submerged in Ganga river water throughout the year except for a few summer months. there’s some nice carvings that have remained in good condition even when temple is submerged each year.It is situated on the bank of Ganga🏞️ and there are several interesting stories associated with the submersion of this temple.Even tho...

Swami Vivekananda on Brahmacharya

Image
Swami Vivekananda on Brahmacharya Brahmacharya should be like a burning fire within the veins! By the establishment of continence energy is gained. The chaste brain has tremendous energy and gigantic will-power. Without chastity there can be no spiritual strength. Continence gives wonderful control over mankind. The spiritual leaders of men have been very continent, and this is what gave them power. Therefore the Yogi must be continent. Complete continence gives great intellectual and spiritual power. The Brahmachârin must be sexually pure in thought, word, and deed. Lose regard for the body; get rid of the consciousness of it so far as possible. Even he, born of a foreign nationality and living in a foreign land, can understand the meaning of our Brahmacharya as the only way to the attainment of spirituality, and belies that it is not even in these days rare in India, whilst the hypocritical heroes of our own household are unable to see anything else than carnal relationship in the ma...

Reason Behind Sitting on floor while Eating .

Image
Sitting on floor while Eating 🙏🕉️ This tradition is not just about sitting on floor and eating, it is regarding sitting in the "Sukhasan" position and then eating. Sukhasan is the position we normally use for Yoga asanas. 🙏🕉️ Sitting in this position while eating helps in improving digestion as the circulatory system can focus solely upon digestion and not on our legs dangling from a chair or supporting us while we are standing. 🙏🕉️

Chittor has a history going back several centuries. It was an ancient centre of Jain tradition. Chittor is adjacent to the ancient city of Madhyamika. The Jain inscriptions at Mathura from the Kushana period (1st to 3rd centuries) mention a "Majjhimilla" branch of the "Kottiya" gana, indicating that it was a major Jain centre. The famous Acharya Haribhadra Suri (6th century) was born in Chittor and wrote "Dhurtopakhyana" there. There was a scholar Elacharya at Chittor from whom Vira-senacharya (9th century) learned the ancient Shat-khandagama and Kashayapahuda. Vira-senacharya later wrote the famous "Dhavala" and "Jayadhavala" on the basis of these books. It was the residence of Jinavallabha who propagated the Vidhimarga in the 12th century. From the 15th to 17th centuries, it was the seat of a Bhattaraka. The tower is built in the Solanki style. It is 30 feet wide at the base and narrows down to 15 feet at the top. 6000 year old Lord Rama and Hanuman carvings in Silemania, Iraq

AN ANCIENT RAM-CHAPEL IN SUMER One of the major triumphs of modern archaeology was the hair-raising discoveries of Sir Leonard Woolley at Ur. Amidst the ruins of Ur, he unearthed a Ram-chapel but totally missed its relevance in world history. This crucial finding not only bridges the wide gaps between Indian tradition and archaeology but also unfolds the historic bonds that once united ancient India, Iran and Sumer. Ram-Sin of (Larsa) to whose memory this chapel was dedicated must have been Rama of Valmiki. The name Ararama of Larsa may be an echo of Rama. This Ram-Chapel of Ur is the earliest known memorial to the great Rama and may have been erected by Dilmun merchants who resided nearby. Dilmun was always mentioned in the Sumerian texts together with Magan and Melukkha and it is possible that these three states were somehow allied to each other. RAMA, BHARATA & LAKSHMANA IN SUMER The Cambridge Ancient History[xvi][iii] which is usually not considered as a sourcebook for Indian h...

One day Buddha was walking through a village.

Image
One day Buddha was walking through a village. A very angry and rude young man came up and began insulting him. “You have no right teaching others,” he shouted. “You are as stupid as everyone else. You are nothing but a fake.” Buddha was not upset by these insults. Instead he asked the young man “Tell me, if you buy a gift for someone, and that person does not take it, to whom does the gift belong?” The man was surprised to be asked such a strange question and answered, “It would belong to me, because I bought the gift.” The Buddha smiled and said, ”That is correct. And it is exactly the same with your anger. If you become angry with me and I do not get insulted, then the anger falls back on you. You are then the only one who becomes unhappy, not me. All you have done is hurt yourself.” “If you want to stop hurting yourself, you must get rid of your anger and become loving instead. When you hate others, you yourself become unhappy. But when you love others, everyone is happy.”

Sri Yaganti Uma Nageswara Temple

Sri Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple is 14 km away from Banaganipalli in Kurnool district, 55 km from Nandyal, 80 km from Kurnool, 308 km from Hyderabad, 359 km from Vijayawada. Yaganti is one of the most famous Shiva Temple in Andhra Pradesh state. The temple dates back to 5th and 6th centuries with contributions from Pallavas, Cholas, Chalukyas and Vijayanagara rulers. According to Potuluri Veera Brahmendra Swamy, the Basavanna (stone nandi) of Yaganti will come alive and shout when Kali Yuga ends. It is said that people used to do Pradakshinas (rounds) around it in the past. The temple staff has already removed one pillar as the size of the Nandi has increased. The devotees believe that the Nandi (Bullock, Lord Shiva’s) idol in front of the temple is continuously increasing its size. The locals say that the idol was initially much smaller than its present size. They say that certain experimentation was carried out on this idol and it was said that the type of rock out of which the ...

An edition of the first map to show India🇮🇳 in its ‘modern’ form, as a recognizable peninsula, based on a stolen Portuguese🇵🇹 master map. (16th century)  This fascinating map embraces all of South Asia and much of East Asia, as it was conceived by Europeans🇬🇧 near the beginning of the 16th Century. Most interestingly, India, which is named ‘India Intra Gangem’ (India within the Ganges)🕉️, appears in its modern form, as a recognizable peninsula, for the first time. East Asia is termed ‘India Extra Gangem’ (India beyond the Ganges) and assumes comparatively crude outlines. India is framed by the ‘Indus Fl.’ (Indus River) and the Ganges River🚩, while the west coast of India features many place names that were ports of call for the Portuguese during the period immediately following Vasco da Gama’s first arrival in India in 1498. These include ‘Cambaia’ (Khambhat), ‘Caliqut’ (Kozhikode), ‘Cochim’ (Kochi), ‘Cananor’ (Kannur), ‘Cangallor’ (Kodungallur) and ‘Mangalor’ (Manga...

Brahmavadini | The forgotten tradition of women scholars in ancient india.

Image
Brahmavadini was the title attributed to women scholars, who dedicated their lives to the pursuit of knowledge and the study of the Vedas. Some were unmarried, living as ascetics and independent of their fathers, brothers or male counterparts. They were paragons of intellectual proficiency, natural philosophy and spiritual enlightenment. They were Rishikis–female sages–in their own right and were revered as teachers, doctors and theorists. In the early Vedic period of Indian history, circa 1500-500 BC, women’s education was given equal priority, despite the dominant preference of begetting sons in every household. A large number of young girls received both literary and cultural education. The Sacred Thread ceremony, called Upanayana, Janeau or Poita, was conferred on both girls and boys of all castes at the age of seven. Post this ceremony, children were admitted to Vedic educational institutions also known as Gurukuls. Many of these gurukuls practised co-education. However, with the ...
